4. Legal Bases for Processing
Where required by law, our legal bases may include:
- Providing the service you requested.
- Your consent, such as when you submit information, upload a resume, request follow-up, or pay for early access.
- Legitimate interests, including product improvement, analytics, security, debugging, user support, fraud prevention, and validation-stage research.
- Compliance with legal obligations, if applicable.
5. Resume and Experience Data
Resume uploads, pasted resume text, work history, education history, and related experience data may contain personal or sensitive information.
When you submit resume or experience data to Calis:
- We may send that data to a third-party AI provider, including Anthropic, to parse, summarize, analyze, and generate career-related outputs.
- We may store the original submission and generated or derived outputs in our database.
- We may use the information to generate your career blueprint or other career-discovery outputs.
- We may retain anonymized, aggregated, or de-identified derivations after deleting the original personal information, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
- We may use de-identified or anonymized derivations to improve Calis and build proprietary career-path datasets, models, research assets, and matching systems.
Please do not upload a resume or other file unless you are comfortable with Calis and its subprocessors processing that information.
6. Third-Party Service Providers and Subprocessors
Calis uses third-party service providers to operate the product. Your information may be processed by these providers as needed to provide the service.
Current or expected providers include:
- Anthropic — AI processing of aspirations, resume data, experience data, and generation of career outputs. User data may be sent to Anthropic’s large language model systems for processing.
- Supabase — database, authentication/session-related infrastructure, storage, logs, and related backend services.
- Vercel — website hosting, deployment, serverless functions, logs, and related infrastructure.
- Resend — transactional and product-related email.
- Tally — surveys, feedback forms, and validation-stage research.
- Venmo — offline or third-party payment confirmation, if you choose to pay through Venmo.
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — advertising, measurement, and conversion tracking. The Meta Pixel may collect usage and event information, such as page views, form submissions, and conversions, and share it with Meta to measure and improve our advertising. When you provide your email address, we may also share a hashed (irreversible) version of it with Meta to match conversions and reach relevant audiences. We do not share your raw email address with Meta for advertising.
These providers may process personal information according to their own terms, privacy policies, and data-processing commitments.
7. We Do Not Sell Personal Data
Calis does not sell your personal information.
We use advertising and measurement tools, including the Meta Pixel, that may share certain usage and event information, including a hashed (irreversible) version of your email address, with partners such as Meta to measure and improve our advertising. Under some privacy laws, including California law, this may be considered sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell your personal information for money. To opt out of this advertising-related sharing, contact us at harry@calis.careers.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to:
- Provide Calis.
- Generate and maintain access to career blueprints or other outputs.
- Follow up with users.
- Improve and validate the product.
- Maintain payment confirmations, product analytics, and support records.
- Debug, secure, and operate the service.
- Comply with legal obligations.
Because Calis is currently in a validation phase, retention periods may evolve as the product matures.
You may request deletion of your personal information by contacting harry@calis.careers. After receiving a deletion request, we will delete or de-identify personal information where reasonably possible, subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, backup, payment-record, or operational retention needs.
We may retain aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified information that no longer identifies you.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. These may include encryption in transit, access controls, database security rules, limited administrative access, and Supabase row-level security where implemented.
No online service can guarantee complete security. You use Calis at your own risk, and you should not submit information you consider highly sensitive unless you are comfortable with the risks of online processing.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your personal information.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Opt out of certain communications.
- Request information about how your personal information is used or shared.
To exercise these rights, contact harry@calis.careers.
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
11. Email Communications
If you provide your email address, we may use it to send product access links, career blueprint delivery messages, payment-related messages, follow-ups, feedback requests, updates, and related communications.
You can opt out of non-essential emails by contacting us at harry@calis.careers or by using any unsubscribe option provided in the email.
12. Cookies and Local Storage
Calis may use local storage, session storage, first-party analytics, and limited cookies to operate and improve the product.
This may include:
- A sessionStorage token to maintain your product session.
- An admin cookie for administrative access.
- First-party analytics or event tracking to understand product usage and funnel performance.
We use the Meta Pixel, a third-party advertising and measurement tool, which may set cookies and collect event information to measure our advertising performance and help us reach relevant audiences. We do not use other third-party advertising networks at this time.
13. Children’s Privacy
Calis is not intended for children under 18.
By using Calis, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. If we learn that we collected personal information from someone under 18, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
14. International Users and Transfers
Calis is operated from the United States and uses service providers that may process information in the United States or other countries.
If you access Calis from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have privacy laws different from those in your country.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Calis changes. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and may provide additional notice where appropriate.
Your continued use of Calis after an updated Privacy Policy is posted means you acknowledge the updated policy.
